Meet Our Second Chance Program Recipient, Krista Sanchez!
Krista Tells Us About Her Dental Health:
My dental health is not great. I am missing all but two teeth on the top of my mouth, and I only have six teeth on the bottom.
Krista Tells Us Why Restoring Her Smile Is Important to Her:
To me, to be able to smile again is very important. People tell me to smile, I say I can’t. I’m too ashamed. My self-esteem is low. It’s not me. I’ve always been very outgoing. I didn’t even go to my family reunion last year because of my teeth. My daughter just graduated from high school, and I was really embarrassed. I didn’t want to take any pictures with her. It’s really hard to find a job with your teeth like this.
Krista Tells Us Why She Thinks She Is a Good Candidate for the Second Chance Program:
I have been a good person. I tell my daughters, “Don’t ever judge someone by the way they look because you don’t know the walk they’re walking. They could be the best person in the world, and they just have something that’s holding them back.” I’m looking for a chance to get ahead in life and be self-sufficient. Maybe if I’m chosen, this will be my chance to smile again. I want to smile and tell everyone how I got the smile. And besides, I miss eating corn on the cob.
