OC Oral Surgery announced the final recipient for the Second Chance Program
Mission Viejo, CA (October 16, 2015) – Last Friday, local oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Junil Ahn of OC Oral Surgery and general dentist Dr. Daniel Cohen announced the final recipient for the Second Chance program as Krista Sanchez of Placentia, CA.
With 160 applicants, there were many qualified candidates for the program, making the final decision heart wrenching. A doting mother of six, Ms. Sanchez is grateful to have been blessed with such an amazing opportunity. The painful reality of her oral health effects her ability to eat, her self-esteem, and ultimately her ability to gain employment. “It’s hard to find a job, to talk to people at the store or church, and I haven’t smiled in four years. I’m embarrassed,” said Ms. Sanchez.
The unfortunate truth is that her children see how her oral health affects her everyday life. Although she proudly teaches her children not to judge based on appearance and that internal beauty lasts longer that what is on the outside, Ms. Sanchez wishes her looks would reflect the person that she is to the people close to her.
She will receive the full-arch dental implant replacement known as the All-On-4â treatment concept. This treatment will restore her oral function, alleviate the pain she experiences on a daily basis, and raise her self-esteem so she can be more confident and secure when searching for employment.
Board-certified oral surgeon Dr. Ahn will work with general dentist Dr. Daniel Cohen to perform the All-On-4â treatment concept. The technique is a highly sought after dental implant procedure noted for its minimal recovery time, natural look and appearance, as well as its ability to restore oral function. The All-On-4â treatment concept has become a popular choice among those who are seeking an alternative to dentures and looking for a permanent solution for replacing a full-arch of teeth. Nobel Biocare, a leader in dental implants and originator of the All-On-4â treatment concept, and Okon Dental Lab will also be contributing dental implant materials and laboratory services.
“As a practice, we feel fortunate that we are able to help Krista get a second chance at a new smile,” said Dr. Ahn.
The Second Chance program will not end when the dental procedures are completed. OC Oral Surgery and Dr. Ahn invite local businesses and professionals in the community to lend a helping hand in Ms. Sanchez’s transformation. Support from a career counselor, a plan from a nutritionist, and a physical fitness routine are just the beginning stages to her achieving a successful outcome for her life.
